Die Naturpark-Volksschule St. Thomas am Bl. wurde im Juli 2017 im Rahmen der Schulschlussfeier mit dem Zertifikat „Naturpark-Schule“ ausgezeichnet. Bei dieser Feier stellten die Kinder ihr Schauspieltalent bei der Aufführung des abgewandelten Märchens der goldenen Gans unter Beweis.
„Schule im Naturpark – Naturparkschule“ so lautet das Motto im Leitbild. Darin sind die pädagogischen Ziele und Schwerpunkte verankert, die mit denen des Naturparks abgestimmt sind. Projekte und Wissensvermittlung finden in und mit der Natur statt. Die Schülerinnen und Schüler erleben im Unterricht einen wertschätzenden und respektvollen Umgang mit Menschen, Tieren und Pflanzen.
Für das besondere Engagement der Pädagoginnen und Kinder in Kooperation mit dem Naturpark zum Thema Schmetterlinge wurde die VS St. Thomas 2018 von der Stiftung „Blühendes Österreich“ mit einem Preis ausgezeichnet.
Ein Wildblumenbeet und die Naturkalender-Hecke am Areal der Schule wurden gemeinsam mit dem Naturpark angelegt und gepflanzt. Diese bieten Lebensraum und Nahrung für viele Insektenarten und laden die Kinder zu eigenen Naturbeobachtungen ein.
Naturpark-Themen der Naturpark-Volksschule St. Thomas
Die Naturpark-Volksschule St. Thomas orientiert sich an den jeweilen Themen im Naturpark. Es ergeben sich je nach Jahreszeit und Aufenthalte in der Natur eigenen Schwerpunkte, die in der pädagogischen Arbeit aufgegriffen werden.
